LOCTITE® AA 3494 is a transparent, acrylic-based, medium-viscosity light-cure adhesive. It cures in seconds to form an impact-resistant bond with excellent resistance to prolonged humidity or water immersion. Ideal for bonding and sealing or potting applications of glass to itself or other materials, such as rough surface decorative glass, molded glass tableware items or automotive lighting components.

How to use
For best performance bond surfaces should be clean and free from grease.
Cure rate is dependent on lamp intensity, distance from light source, depth of cure needed or bondline gap and light transmittance of the substrate through which the radiation must pass. Recommended intensity for cure in bondline situation is 40 mW/cm2 minimum (measured at the bondline) with an exposure time of 5-6 times the fixture time at the same intensity. For dry curing of exposed surfaces, higher intensity UV is required (100 mW/cm2).
Cooling should be provided for temperature sensitive substrates such as thermoplastics. Plastic grades should be checked for risk of stress cracking when exposed to liquid adhesive. Excess adhesive can be wiped away with organic solvent(e.g. Acetone). Bonds should be allowed to cool before subjecting to any service loads.
This product is light sensitive; exposure to daylight, UV light and artificial lighting should be kept to a minimum during storage and handling. The product should be dispensed from applicators with black feedlines.

LOCTITE® AA 3494 should be stored in the unopened container in a dry location, with storage information possibly indicated on the product container labeling. Its optimal storage temperature is 8°C to 21°C, and storage below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect product properties. Material removed from containers may be contaminated during use.
The fixture time for this cured product is 8 seconds, and it is lesser than 10 seconds when exposed to 6 mW/cm² at 365 nm on glass using a black light Zeta® 7500 light source. It is also lesser than 5 seconds under 30 mW/cm² at 365 nm with a D bulb, electrodelesser at 0.5 mm gap, lesser than 5 seconds under 50 mW/cm² at 365 nm with a D bulb, electrodelesser, lesser than 5 seconds under 100 mW/cm² at 365 nm, 0 gap, D bulb, electrodelesser system, lesser than 5 seconds under 30 mW/cm² at 365 nm, 0.05 mm gap, electrodelesser, and lesser than 5 seconds under 100 mW/cm² at 365 nm, 0.5 mm gap, D bulb, electrodelesser system.
The tensile strength at break for this product is 22.5 N/mm², measured under ISO 527-3.
