Take off the weight.

Take on the load.

Three grams of adhesive. One hour. That's what it took for LOCTITE to pull a 208 ton train. How did we make that math work? This rapid bonding capability is a testament to the efficiency and speed of the LOCTITE Hybrid adhesive, allowing for significantly reduced downtime and increased productivity in various industries where time-sensitive projects are the norm.

This breakthrough in adhesive technology showcases the potential for LOCTITE Hybrid adhesives to revolutionize the way heavy machinery and structures are assembled and maintained.

Traditional bonding methods add weight, time, and cost

In modern manufacturing and engineering practices, there is an increasing need for a highly efficient bonding solution that can seamlessly join materials with diverse properties and compositions. This includes bonding dissimilar materials, such as metals to plastics or composites to metals, which presents a significant challenge due to the mismatched characteristics and behaviors of these materials. Traditional assembly methods often fall short in achieving robust and lasting attachment between these disparate substrates.

Furthermore, traditional mechanical fastening methods, while effective in certain applications, have limitations in terms of joint strength, weight implications, and resistance to dynamic stresses. The reliance on such methods often results in suboptimal joint integrity, contributing to structural weaknesses and potential failures, especially in environments subjected to high loads, vibrations, or variations in temperature.

LOCTITE structural adhesives have the answer

LOCTITE® structural adhesive solutions provide high bonding strength, often exceeding traditional mechanical fastening methods like welding or riveting. This strength contributes to the overall durability and longevity of the bonded assembly. Compared to traditional fastening methods, structural adhesives are typically lighter. Adhesives distribute stress evenly across the bonded surfaces, reducing stress concentrations that are common with mechanical fasteners. This can result in enhanced fatigue resistance and a longer service life for the bonded components. These adhesives create a smooth and continuous bond, enhancing the appearance of the final product by hiding seams and joints.

LOCTITE vs. double sided tape

Double-sided tapes offer instant assembly. However, cutting the tape, applying and setting the parts affects the cost and productivity. LOCTITE Structural Adhesives are simple to use and are as strong as as overlap welds.

LOCTITE vs. riveting & bolting

Mechanical fastening methods like rivets and bolts reduce productivity and are not cost-effective. LOCTITE Structural Adhesives deliver up to 2x more strength and typically at a lower cost. Also, bonding with structural adhesives is easier and quicker than bolting or riveting.

Why choose LOCTITE structural bonding solutions?
