LOCTITE® 268 is a red, high-strength threadlocker for permanently locking and sealing bolts, nuts and studs to prevent loosening due to vibration. The non-drip stick format makes it ideal for vertical and overhead applications. It works on all metals without primer, including passive substrates such as stainless steel, aluminum and plated surfaces. Cures through most corrsoion prevention oils and cutting fluids on "as-received" fasteners without aggresive cleaning.

How to use
LOCTITE 268 is suitable for use on most “as-received” fasteners with light coatings of corrosion prevention oils without cleaning. However, for heavily oiled or contaminated fasteners, it is recommended to use LOCTITE® SF 7070 to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying LOCTITE 268 threadlocker.
If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals (stainless steel, aluminum and plated metals) or low temperature (below 5°C), use LOCTITE® SF 7649 activator. Allow to dry.
Apply a 360 degree band of threadlocker to the male fastener at the area of engagement and completely fill the thread roots - generally the width of 2-3 threads. Assemble nut and tighten to proper torque.
Apply threadlocker to entire diameter of thread engagement area on male fastener, install fastener into blind hole, and tighten to proper torque.
Assemble and tighten to proper torque requirement. If several bolts are being assembled, torque them down to the correct value within the fixture time window.
Disassemble with standard hand tools. If not possible, apply localized heat to approximately 500°F/260°C and disassemble while hot.

The standard continuous operating temperature range for LOCTITE® anaerobic adhesives is -65°F to +300°F (-55˚C to +150˚C).Depending on the specific application requirements, high-performance grades are also available offering increased temperature resistance. Please consult with the Henkel technical team for availability and grade selection.

Yes, these products are all anaerobic adhesives that will function in a similar way. Variations in the adhesive characteristics (viscosity, gap-fill, strength, etc.) will make them better suited to certain applications. Consult the product technical data sheets and/or Henkel representatives for further information.
