- Description
- Technical specification
LOCTITE® 496 is a very low-viscosity, general-purpose instant adhesive that is particularly suited to bonding metal substrates. It has a fixture time of 10-30 seconds, and its very low viscosity makes it ideal for very tight gaps and close-fitting parts. It can also be used for the bonding of rubbers and plastics, including difficult-to-bond plastics (PP, PE, PTFE) when used in conjunction with a primer such as LOCTITE® SF 770.

FAQ
This is a result of stress cracking. Uncured liquid CA remaining on some plastic substrate (such as polycarbonate, acrylic, and polysulfone) in a stressed condition may cause the formation of cracks in the plastic. Some remedies for avoiding/minimizing stress cracking are closing the bond joint quickly, use reinforced grades of plastic, anneal parts, or speed the cure of the CA with accelerator (or light for light curing CA products only).
This is called blooming. This often occurs when there is an excessive amount of product being applied. To avoid blooming, use proper ventilation, less product, lower humidity, use a primer/accelerator, or a low bloom product.
Yes, CA’s should be stored in the refrigerator prior to opening, but DO NOT refrigerate them once they have already been opened. After opening, CA's should be used within 30 days for best performance.
All necessary H&S measures and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements can be found on the product material safety data sheet, all of which are available via our website.
Henkel has several products available with varying levels of NSF® approval, amongst others. Please contact the Henkel sales or technical teams with your requirements.
