- Description
- Technical specification
LOCTITE® 401 is a fast-fixturing instant adhesive (industrial grade) designed for the assembly of a wide range of materials where uniform stress distribution and high tensile and/or shear strength are required. The assembly of difficult-to-bond (PP, PE, PTFE) materials is possible when using primer LOCTITE® SF 770. In addition, it's suited for bonding porous materials such as wood, paper, leather and fabric.

FAQ
Although HQ is not part of the product formula for LOCTITE® 401, trace amounts are possible due to shared manufacturing processes and/or select raw material impurities. Hence, Henkel has taken the additional step of introducing a low specification level (< 50 PPM for HQ) and each batch is now checked for this after manufacture.
All adhesives are compatible with metal substrates although bond strength and durability will vary depending on the technology selected. Anaerobic adhesives may cause stress-cracking in some sensitive polymers and therefore should generally be avoided on plastic parts. Consult Henkel technical teams for further advice as needed.
All necessary H&S measures and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements can be found on the product material safety data sheet, all of which are available via our website.
This is called blooming. This often occurs when there is an excessive amount of product being applied. To avoid blooming, use proper ventilation, less product, lower humidity, use a primer/accelerator, or a low bloom product.
Yes, instant adhesives should be stored in the refrigerator prior to opening, but DO NOT refrigerate them once they have already been opened. After opening, the product should be used within 30 days for best performance.
Henkel has a number of products available with varying levels of NSF® and WRAS® approval, amongst others. Please contact the Henkel sales or technical teams with your requirements.
