For an effective, convenient alternative to pre-cut gaskets, choose LOCTITE® SI 5970. This 1-part alkoxy silicone sealant has been designed specifically for gasketing applications where on-line, low pressure quality control tests need to be conducted before the product begins to cure. Ideal for stamped sheet metal covers (timing covers and oil sumps) where you need good oil resistance and the ability to withstand high joint-movement.

How to use
For best performance bond surfaces should be clean and free from grease.
Moisture curing begins immediately after the product is exposed to the atmosphere, so parts to be assembled should be mated within a few minutes after the product is dispensed. The bond should be allowed to cure (e.g., seven days) before subjecting it to heavy service loads.
Excess material can be easily wiped away with non-polar solvents.
For full automatic applications, a volumetric dispensing system is recommended.

Yes, For best performance, ensure that bond surfaces are clean and free from grease.
LOCTITE® SI 5970 should be stored in its unopened container in a dry location. Storage information may be indicated on the product container labeling. For optimal storage, maintain a temperature between 8°C and 21°C. Storing below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect the product properties. These storage conditions are for long-term product storage. Transit and interim storage situations (e.g., receiving) are not encompassed by Henkel's storage requirements.
LOCTITE® SI 5970 is recommended for use in automotive electronics, battery cells, battery modules, battery packs, control units (ECU), electric and hybrid vehicles, gasketing applications, lithium ion batteries, metal substrate, oil sumps, plastics substrate, power conversion systems, power storage systems, stamped sheet metal covers, and timing covers.
