For an instant seal and reduced product migration, try LOCTITE® 574. This general purpose, thixotropic gasketing product seals close-fitting joints between rigid metal faces and flanges, and provides resistance to low pressures immediately after assembly. Ideal for use as a form-in-place gasket on rigid flanged connections, e.g. gearbox and engine casings, it has excellent oil resistance and excellent resistance to water and glycol.

How to use
For best performance bond surfaces should be clean and free from grease.
The product is designed for close-fitting flanged parts with gaps of up to 0.25 mm (0.01 in). Apply the product manually as a continuous bead, a rolled film, or by screen printing to one surface of the flanges. For gaps greater than 0.125 mm (0.005 in), a rolled film should be applied to both flange surfaces using a pen roller. Low pressures (less than 0.5 MPa or psi) may be used during testing to confirm a complete seal immediately after assembly and before curing. The flanges should be tightened as soon as possible after assembly to avoid shimming.

Yes, for best performance bond surfaces should be clean and free from grease.
LOCTITE® 574 should be stored in its unopened container in a dry location. Storage information may be indicated on the product container labeling. The optimal storage temperature is 8°C to 21°C, as storage below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect product properties. Material removed from the container may be contaminated during use and should not be returned to the original container.
The fixture time for this product is 15 - 45 minutes, measured under standard load, at room temperature, using the recommended test method.
The tensile strength of this product is 5.00 N/mm² measured under ISO 6922 in steel, grit blasted.
