LOCTITE® PC 7383 protective coating is a room temperature curing coating that is easily applied with a trowel or spatula. This innovative formula bonds well to both rubber and metal, making it ideal for repairing liners. This formula also allows for thicker coatings on vertical and overhead surfaces, without any sagging or slumping. It is recommended for use on processing equipment that is exposed to both abrasion and impact and is suitable for dry service temperatures of between -4°F to 175°F (-20°C to 80°C).

How to use
Remove dirt, oil, grease, loose flaky rust, etc., with a suitable high pressure water cleaning system using LOCTITE SF 7840 Natural Blue® cleaner/degreaser.
Remove all loose and damaged pieces of material from the repair surface such as old rubber, fabric, etc. Abrade the repair area with an abrasive wheel, being sure to avoid overheating and melting of the rubber.
A corded drill with mixer attachment can be used for mixing. Pre-mix the resin for 1 minute. Add the hardener into the resin and mix thorougly until there is a uniform color and consistency. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the pail.
Apply a thin amount of the coating onto the repair area and work the product into the surface with a trowel, spatula, or gloved hand, to ensure good adhesion and to avoid bubbling. The coating can then be built up to the desired thickness required.
Tools and other soiled areas can be cleaned up quickly and easily with LOCTITE SF 7617 Industrial Hand Wipes.
FAQ
A successful application is largely dependent upon surface preparation. The application surface must be free from all contamination. Removal of oil, grease, dust, chlorides, rust and for most products, moisture, will greatly enhance application success. For more detailed surface preparation techniques, refer to the product description sheets.
If a part is cold and the ambient air is warm, cure time will be extended. Both the air and the part should be at room temperature to get the prescribed cure time and strength. Also, the surface temperature should be a minimum of +5°F/-15°C above the dew point.
No, polyurethane systems have been formulated to contain an exact amount of polyol to react with an exact amount of isocyanate. If excess isocyanate is added, the final cured product will differ from the properties on the technical data sheet.
The use of solvent is not recommended due to the possibility of trapping the solvent in the cured systems, causing voids or soft spots.
Yes, polymer composites are packaged as kits in the exact ratio required. Partial kits, however, can be mixed if measured precisely, by weight or by volume.
Functional cure time varies with product type and application temperature. Refer to the product description sheets for individual product information. For LOCTITE® PC 7383 cured at 21°C, the functional cure time is 16 hours. Warmer conditions will shorten this time and colder temperatures will add to this time.
