- Question & answer
LOCTITE® EA E-120HP is a 2-part, high viscosity, industrial-grade epoxy adhesive with extended worklife. Once mixed, it cures at room temperature to form a tough bondline with excellent resistance to peel and impact forces. You can also expect superior thermal shock resistance, excellent mechanical and electrical properties, and resistance to a wide variety of solvents and chemicals. Ideal for bonding nose cones in aerospace applications, as well as low stress, general industrial applications requiring high impact and high peel strength. It bonds dissimilar materials including aluminum, steel, and other metals, as well as a variety of plastics and ceramics.

How to use
For best performance, part surfaces should be clean and free of grease. For high-strength structural bonds, remove surface contaminants such as paint, oxide films, oils, dust, mold release agents, and all other surface contaminants.
For dual cartridges, insert the cartridge into the application gun and start the plunger into the cylinders using light pressure on the trigger. Remove the cartridge cap and expel a small amount of adhesive to ensure that both sides are flowing evenly and freely. If automatic mixing of the resin and hardener is required, attach the mixing nozzle to the cartridge and begin dispensing the adhesive. For hand mixing, dispense the required amount of adhesive and mix thoroughly, continuing for approximately 15 seconds after a uniform color is achieved. For bulk containers, mix thoroughly by weight or volume in the proportions specified in the Product Description section, mixing vigorously for approximately 15 seconds after a uniform color is obtained. Do not mix quantities greater than 4 kg, as excessive heat buildup may occur; mixing smaller quantities will help minimize heat buildup.
Apply the adhesive as quickly as possible after mixing to one surface to be joined. For maximum bond strength apply adhesive evenly to both surfaces. Parts should be assembled immediately after mixed adhesive has been applied.
Keep assembled parts from moving during cure. The bond should be allowed to cure 24 hours before subjecting it to any service loads. Where necessary curing can be accelerated by the application of moderate heat at the bond line - refer to the Techncisl Data Sheet for cure recommendations.
Excess uncured adhesive can be wiped away with an organic solvent, such as LOCTITE® SF 7063 or BONDERITE® C-MC 90014 impreganated wipes. After use and before the adhesive hardens, mixing and dispensing equipment should be cleaned with hot, soapy water.
FAQ
Yes, for best performance, part surfaces should be clean and free of grease. For high-strength structural bonds, remove surface contaminants such as paint, oxide films, oils, dust, mold release agents, and all other surface contaminants.
LOCTITE® EA E-120HP should be stored in an unopened container in a dry location, as indicated on the product container labeling, with an optimal storage temperature range of 8°C to 21°C. Storage below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect product properties. Material removed from the container may become contaminated during use and should not be returned to the original container.
The tensile strength of this product is 41 N/mm², measured under ISO 527-3, and in the cured state at 22°C for 7 days.
LOCTITE® EA E-120HP will be recommended for applications which require high-strength, rigid bonding with resistace to elevated temperatures, ensuring reliability and safety under extreme conditions.
