- Description
- Technical specification
LOCTITE® AA 3342 is a yellow-opaque, modified acrylic-based structural adhesive that provides a 3 to 3.5-minute fixture time, a shear strength of 15-30 N/mm² and very fast curing on activated surfaces. This makes it highly suitable for automated assembly lines with short cycle times. It’s typically used for bonding small rigid parts of dissimilar materials. It tolerates operating temperatures up to 180°C (356°F), making it particularly useful when high heat resistance is required, e.g., when bonding ferrites into motor cans. LOCTITE AA 3342 is a 2-C-no mix adhesive and requires activator LOCTITE® SF 7380 before use to cure.

How to use
1. Store LOCTITE® AA 3342™ in the unopened container in a dry location. Optimal storage is 2°C to 8°C.
2. Ensure bond surfaces are clean and free from grease.
3. For a safe and reliable cure, apply activator to one bond surface and adhesive to the other surface.
4. Use a recommended bondline gap of 0.1 mm, or a maximum gap of 0.5 mm when a larger gap is required.
5. Assemble the parts immediately and within 15 minutes.
6. Wipe away excess adhesive with organic solvent.
7. Hold the bond clamped until the adhesive has fixtured.
8. Evaluate the product at full strength before subjecting it to service loads, typically 24 to 72 hours after assembly depending on bond gap, materials and ambient conditions.
FAQ
It is designed primarily for structural bonding of small rigid parts of dissimilar materials, particularly in applications requiring excellent impact and heat resistance, such as bonding magnets in electric motors.
LOCTITE® AA 3342™ is a modified acrylic adhesive. It is primarily used in combination with a suitable activator, such as Loctite SF 7380, to form a two-component no-mix system.
LOCTITE® AA 3342™ cures when combined with a suitable activator. In circumstances where the use of an activator is not possible cure can also be achieved by the use of heat applied at the bondline. Refer to the TDS for specific cure conditions.
The recommended bondline gap is 0.1 mm, with gaps up to a maximum of 0.5 mm possible where larger gaps are required.
Parts should be assembled immediately and within 15 minutes.
Fixture speed depends on the substrate, bond gap, activator and application conditions. With LOCTITE® SF 7380 activator applied to one side of degreased grit-blasted mild steel, typical fixture time is ≤200 seconds.
