How to use
It is recommended to use the correct LOCTITE® cleaner for the surface to be bonded (such as LOCTITE® SF 7063 or SF 7070) to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive.
To improve adhesion on difficult to bond plastic surfaces, apply LOCTITE® SF 770 to the bond area by brushing or dipping. Avoid applying excess primer. Allow the primer to dry.
If cure speed is too slow, use appropriate activator LOCTITE® SF 7455 or LOCTITE® SF 7452. Apply activator to one bond surface by spray, brush or dipping (not primed surfaces). Allow the activator to dry.
Apply adhesive to one side or part.Recommended dispensing equipment: for precise dispensing of small amounts of adhesive, use dispensing needles.
Assemble parts immediately. The parts should be accurately located as the short fixture time leaves little opportunity for adjustment. Bond should be held or clamped until the adhesive has fixtured. Hint: if necessary, excess product can be cured by activator LOCTITE® SF 7455 or LOCTITE® SF 7452. Spray or drop activator onto excess product.
For precise dispensing of small amounts of adhesive, the use of dispensing needles is recommended.
FAQ
There are several methods to toughen CA adhesives, but the most popular ways are using rubber or anhydride toughening agents. The toughening agents are designed to absorb and distribute impact and stress applied to the adhesive bond line resulting in a tougher bond.
This is called blooming. This often occurs when there is an excessive amount of product being applied. To avoid blooming, use proper ventilation, less product, lower humidity, use a primer/accelerator, or a low bloom product.
This is a result of stress cracking. Leaving uncured liquid CA remaining on some plastic substrate (such as polycarbonate, acrylic, and polysulfone) in a stressed condition may cause the formation of cracks in the plastic. Some remedies for avoiding/minimizing stress cracking are closing the bond joint quickly, use reinforced grades of plastic, anneal parts, or speed the cure of the CA with accelerator (or light for light curing CA products only)
