- Description
- Technical specification
LOCTITE® 290 is a green, medium-high strength threadlocker designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. Because of its low viscosity, the product wicks between engaged threads by capillary action and eliminates the need for disassembly prior to application. This makes it ideal for sealing porosities in welds, castings and powdered metal parts. The anaerobic adhesive cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration.
-

How to use
It is recommended to use LOCTITE® SF 7063/7064/7070 to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying adhesive.
For assembled nut and bolt, dispense a low-viscosity wicking grade threadlocker, such as LOCTITE 290, at the nut and bolt juncture.
Disassemble with standard hand tools.
If disassembly is not possible using normal hand tools, apply localized heat to approximately 260°C. Disassemble while hot with standard hand tools.
For the disassembly of corroded or seized parts use LOCTITE® LB 8040 Freeze and Release.
FAQ
Prevent vibration loosening, prevent leaks, protect threaded components from corrosion and increase the reliability of mechanical fasteners by using a LOCTITE® anaerobic threadlocking adhesive.
The standard continuous operating temperature range for LOCTITE® anaerobic adhesives is -65°F to +300°F (-55˚C to +150˚C). Depending on the specific application requirements, high-performance grades are also available offering increased temperature resistance. Please consult with the Henkel technical team for availability and grade selection.
Yes, LOCTITE® anaerobic adhesives and sealants become highly resistant thermoset polymers once cured, making them suitable for a vast number of applications. Consult our online product resources or contact our technical teams for further information.
Yes, these products are all anaerobic adhesives that will function in a similar way. Variations in the adhesive characteristics (viscosity, gap-fill, strength, etc.) will make them better suited to certain applications. Consult the product technical data sheets and/or LOCTITE representatives for further information.
