Shanghai – Henkel Adhesive Technologies announced that it has been awarded the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product Label for three building components adhesive products: LOCTITE UK 3145, LOCTITE UK 3156, and LOCTITE UK 8113.
The USDA BioPreferred® program aims to promote the development, purchase, and use of biobased products. With labels that inform consumers of biobased content, biobased products can be more easily identified. These products are made of renewable resources derived from plants, animals, marine environments, or forestry feedstock, which can lower the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that contribute to climate change. Biobased products excel in cost-competitiveness, availability, and perform as well as or better than their conventional counterparts. Thanks to its advantages in both sustainability and performance, biobased products have gradually replaced petroleum-based chemicals.
To eliminate dependence on petroleum-based raw materials, Henkel has taken the lead in developing biobased adhesives with renewable carbon resources. With up to 53% USDA certified biobased content, LOCTITE UK 3145, LOCTITE UK 3156, and LOCTITE UK 8113 effectively reduce carbon emissions during the production process. They can be used for bonding wood, plastic, and metal substrates and offer excellent performance in bonding strength compared with conventional adhesives, ensuring customers green and efficient production.
