Gaskets are used to prevent leakage of fluids or gases by forming impervious barriers. For successful gasketing, it is necessary that the seal must remain intact and leak-free over a long period of time. The gasket must be resistant to fluids and/or gases, and withstand the operating temperatures and pressures to which it is subjected. LOCTITE® gasketing products are self-forming gaskets that provide a perfect seal between components, with maximum face-to-face contact, eliminating flange face corrosion. A low-pressure seal is formed immediately on assembly. At full cure it provides a seal that won’t shrink, crack or relax.
LOCTITE gasketing products are available in various formulas to cater to a broad array of industrial applications, from manufacturing new products to a wide range of in-plant maintenance and repairs. Visit our e-Catalog to explore all the different types of gasket sealants available.
Surface contact
Unlike pre-cut gaskets, LOCTITE liquid gasketing products fill all voids.
Hours reduced
In unplanned downtime through the prevention of leaks.
Flanges sealed
With LOCTITE gasketing products, improving the reliability of industrial equipment.
Suited for a wide range of applications, LOCTITE gasket sealants can be formed in place and increase the reliability of flanged assemblies. They reduce inventory complexity and prevent leaks that lead to product failures and costly downtime. Watch the video to learn more.
Pre-cut compression gaskets can have major failure and leakage, which can lead to decreased product reliability and unplanned downtime. The major causes of these failures are:
- Surface contact: Compression gaskets do not provide total contact between the gasket and the flange surfaces. Therefore, minor leakages may occur (weeping rate).
- Compression set: Compression gaskets relax under dynamic loads and decrease in thickness, with subsequent loss of bolt tension in the flange joint resulting in leakage.
- Extrusion: Gaskets can be squeezed out between flanges.
- Bolt hole distortion: High stresses are transferred to the gasket material under the bolt head, causing the gasket to crack, tear, rupture or extrude.

Manually cut paper gaskets demand immense time and skill during installation process, yet do not completely fill the gaps which LOCTITE gasketing products can.
Pre-cut gaskets require different parts for different flanges, yet still have inconsistent surface contact. LOCTITE gasketing products can help solve for this.
O-rings have common misalignments during placement, leaving room for gaps that LOCTITE gasketing products do not.
Eliminate compression set
No cracking and relaxation overtime. No need for frequent tightening of flange bolts.
Create unitized flange
No side-to-side movement of flange or gasket. Stable bolt tension due to the elimination of a third element.
Extend product service life
Reliable seals prevents equipment damaging leaks.
Seal 100%
An impenetrable gasket seals the process fluid inside while preventing corrosion of the flanges.
Reduce inventory cost & complexity
One tube of gasket seal can make various shapes and sizes of gaskets.
Automate easily
Can be applied with automated dispense equipment in production settings.
Our products are available in many different formulations to cater to a broad array of applications. LOCTITE gasket solutions are available as anaerobic liquid gaskets for rigid machine flanges and silicone liquid gaskets for flexible or stamped flanges.

- Rigid Machined flanges
- Stamped or flexible flanges
Rigid, machined flange surfaces typically are designed for no gap, allowing for metal-to-metal contact. For these assemblies, anaerobic liquid gaskets are the best choice because they provide the highest strength seal.
LOCTITE 518 is a medium-strength, general purpose gasketing product with excellent contamination tolerance. Ideal for use on cast iron, steel and aluminum flanges.
- Semi-flexible, medium-strength anaerobic flange gasket
- For active and inactive rigid metal flanges
- Cures through minor surface contamination
- Adapts to flange surface irregularities and gaps up to 0.25 mm
Typically thinner, stamped metal flanges can have larger gaps that need to be filled. They are also subject to more flex in service. For these types of assemblies, silicone liquid gasketing products provide the best seal.
LOCTITE SI 5910 is a low strength gasketing product for flexible flanges that has good resistance to oil and joint movement.
- Good resistance to oil and joint movement
- Can be supplied in cartridges, tubes or pressurized cans
- For use with flexible flanges
- Reduces migration of liquid after application
