In 1876, Fritz Henkel introduced his first product: a silicate-based universal laundry detergent. After the First World War, a shortage of adhesives at the company headquarters in Düsseldorf prompted us to produce our own. This would lead to the establishment of our glue factory in 1923. Over the decades, we've expanded into new industries, and earned a reputation among surrounding companies.
We have since become a global leader in adhesive technologies, revolutionizing transportation and manufacturing, and impacting more than 800 industries worldwide. Our adhesive solutions have contributed to iconic projects, such as space voyages, and the restoration of the Great Wall of China and Tutankhamun's mask.
